FX Analyst - Dublin
Job Summary
Zurich Treasury Services is looking for a newly or recently qualified accountant to join its specialist finance team in a junior FX Analyst role. This is an excellent developmental opportunity for a candidate looking to build a career in treasury and foreign exchange risk management within a major international insurance group. No prior FX or treasury experience is required — comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided from the ground up, and the successful candidate will be fully supported in developing the specialist knowledge and skills the role demands.
The role provides forensic accounting analysis across multiple legal entity balance sheets and income statements within the Swiss insurance group. The analyst will support a strategically critical currency hedging programme, contributing to CFO-level performance targets and ensuring FX exposures remain within defined risk thresholds. Quarterly analytical outputs produced in this role form are presented to senior finance leadership.
This role may be available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
Your Role
As an FX Analyst your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
- Monitor foreign exchange exposures on a daily basis and maintain key reporting outputs for senior stakeholders.
- Support the monitoring of FX hedging positions, trade instructions, and execution activity.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the group's FX risk policy framework.
- Perform forensic accounting analysis across multiple legal entity balance sheets and income statements.
- Contribute to the preparation of periodic FX analysis presentations for senior finance leadership.
- Engage with local business partners to analyse drivers of P&L impact of foreign exchange and changes in currency exposures.
- Assess the effectiveness of business controls for FX risk management.
- Work with local finance and reporting teams to identify opportunities to strengthen FX controls.
- Assist with the development of IT processes and projects to enhance controls and reporting.
- Develop a good working knowledge of relevant IFRS and statutory accounting principles.
- Liaise with business units to answer ad hoc queries and engage on areas of common interest.
- Completion of monthly/quarterly close tasks including:
- Review of key P&L postings to FX to ensure accuracy
- Review of accuracy of FX exposures
- Review of hedging positions and performance
Your Skills & Experience
As an FX Analyst your skills and qualifications will include:
- Newly or recently qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- No prior FX or treasury experience required — full training will be provided.
- Experience of SAP and SAP BW Analyser / Analysis for Office would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in VBA, automation scripting, or AI / ML tools would be an advantage but is not essential.
- A keen interest in developing expertise in FX risk management and treasury operations.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and take on increasing responsibility as knowledge and confidence grow.
- Critical thinking with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- A flexible and collaborative team player.
Additional Information
Primary work location is Dublin but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
